New Production for 2013 - "The Baroness" by Thor Bjorn Krebs

  • "Denmark's play of the year" - Berlingske (Danish National newspaper) 2011
  • "See it, enjoy it and be alarmed by it - but for God's sake, don't miss it."  Borsen

With vital support from Creative Scotland, Dogstar will produce the UK premiere of The Baroness by Thor Bjorn Krebs during the second half of the year.  This remarkable play premiered in Denmark in 2011, receiving ecstatic reviews and a nomination as Best New Play at the 2012 Reumert Danish Theatre Awards.  A searing psycho-sexual drama, The Baroness is set in the early 1950s and tells the story of the final affair of the 62-year-old Karen Blixen (pen-name Isak Dinesen), the writer of Out of Africa, with Thorkild Bjornvig, 29 years old and a rising star of Danish poetry.  Blixen's Svengali-like relationship with Bjornvig challenged his notions of love, loyalty and what it is to be an artist.

Dogstar will tour The Baroness throughout Scotland and we hope to take the show further afield.  Thor Bjorn Krebs has produced an outstanding piece of new writing.  The Baroness promises to be one of the highlights of the theatrical year.
